GMA NEWS TV BEATS ANC 7 AKSYON TV IN NUTAM!

Press Statement from GMA 7: "News organizations often earn their stripes during tough and trying times.

"And as the month of September serves as witness to the whole world commemorating the tenth anniversary of the infamous 9/11 terrorist attack in the U.S. and the country once again feeling nature's wrath through typhoon Pedring, GMA News TV has shown that it has undoubtedly won the trust of the viewing public and is clearly the country's leading news channel.

"Full September households audience share data (September 25 to 30 based on overnights) from the more widely-recognized ratings service provider Nielsen TV Audience Measurement show GMA News TV's 3.0 NUTAM share points clearly dominating ABS-CBN's News Channel (ANC)'s 0.1 and Aksyon TV's 0.4 nationwide performance.

"GMA News TV registered even more impressive numbers in Mega Manila. During the same period, the Kapuso news and public affairs channel posted 3.9 share points compared to ANC's 0.0 and Aksyon TV's 0.6.

"Topping the list of top GNTV programs for September were the timely and eye-opening special documentaries 9/11 Day that Changed The World and The Death of Bin Laden, the informative and entertaining cooking program Idonl sa Kusina and the channel's highly comprehensive Bagyong Pedring coverage.

"The first ever and only news and public affairs channel on Philippine VHF free TV, GMA News TV Channel 11 is powered by the full roster of GMA News and Public Affairs—the only broadcast news organization in the Philippines that has won the prestigious Peabody Award twice—and is bannered by the most respected names in broadcast journalism.

"The station's flagship primetime newscast, State of the Nation with Jessica Soho, is anchored by Peabody Award winner Jessica Soho who was recently honored by Reader's Digest Asia with the 'Most Trusted Television News Presenter Award.'

"And just this week, GMA News TV's Investigative Documentaries was honored by the National Statistical Coordination Board (NSCB) for being a tool in communicating statistics to a wider audience. The program's host, veteran journalist Malou Mangahas, was also given an award for her body of work in the program and the Philippine Center for Investigative Journalism, which promotes and communicates statistics and its importance in decision-making. Serving as the program's advisers are Sheila Coronel of Columbia University, Marites Vitug of Newsbreak and Ed Lingao of PCIJ.

"Other GMA News TV newscasts include the morning newscast News To Go, anchored by GMA News Online Editor Howie Severino and Kara David, another Peabody winner; midday newscasts Baltang Tanghali with Pia Arcangel and Raffy Tima on weekdays and Balitanghali Weekends with Mariz Umali and Jun Veneracion on weekends; Balita Pilipinas Ngayon, anchored by Maki Pulido and Mark Salazar; Quick Response Team, GMA News TV's unique on-ground newscast, anchored by award-winning reporter Jiggy Manicad; and the Saturday primetime newscast Balita Pilipinas, bannered by multi-awarded broadcast journalist Arnold Clavio."
