PH'S LARGEST BUSINESS GROUPS HEAD ON FOR THE P16-B NAIA EXPRESSWAY PROJECT!

MANILA, Philippines - The San Miguel and Manuel V. Pangilinan-led groups submitted the only two bids for the P16 billion NAIA Expressway project, which is on track to becoming the government's third PPP project.

In a text message, Public Works Secretary Rogelio Singson said the bids are now being evaluated. He said the evaluation will take at least a week before the financial bids are opened.

Singson said the Ayala group has said it will not participate in the bidding. India's IL & FS Transportation group was also qualified to bid but didn't.

The project will link the South Luzon Expressway with Roxas Boulevard, Macapagal Avenue and Pagcor City.

The NAIA project would be the third PPP to be awarded by the Aquino government.

The government previously awarded the P2 billion Daang Hari road project to the Ayala group and a P16 billion school building project to Megawide and the construction company of former MMDA chairman Bayani Fernando.

The government is trying to accelerate the construction of new infrastructure to create jobs by making the Philippines a more attractive investment and tourism destination.
