GMA-7 AND ABS-CBN RENEWS WORD WAR OVER THE AGB NIELSEN ISSUE!

The Kapuso network claims the Kapamilya network is not telling the truth.

This is the gist of GMA-7's public statement about the civil case filed by ABS-CBN against ratings service provider AGB Nielsen.

The statement, which came from Kapuso network corporate communications consultant Butch Racquel, was sent this afternoon, December 28.

The press release singles out a statement that it says the Kapamilya network often includes in its press releases about ratings (itals provided):

YESTERDAY TODAY AND TOMORROW OVERTAKES SHAKE RATTLE AND ROLL ON THE 2ND DAY!

Latest figures on the MMFF box office race reveal that Star Cinema's Enteng Ng Ina Mo continues to mark an unchallenged leadership with over P69 million gross receipts in just two days! ENIM earned P30 million in the second day mainting the lead overall, while Panday 2 stays second with P17.9 million. However another Star Cinema production lead by Ms. Kris Aquino is fast approaching with Panday 2 with over P17 million in sales. Judy Ann's My Househusband remains superior over Shake Rattle and Roll while the latter fell 6th place with only P7 million gross reciepts. Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow accelerated to the 5th place with P8.7 million.

DOES MVP REALLY WISH TO BUY GMA NETWORK AT P500 BILLION?

Online reports are buzzing out yesterday about the rumored take over of TV5 Chairman Manny Pangilinan to the country's No.1, ratings wise, TV Network, GMA Network. But what keeps us astounded is the circulating amount of the deal! The offer according to reports amounts to a mind blogging P500 billion!

Personally, TV NETWORK WAR, thinks this figure is way too exaggerated considering that the company's current value according to PSE only totals to P30 billion. If this P500 billion figure is true, then MVP might be risking too much attempting to buy a company 17 times its current market value!

MANILA, Philippines - Diversifying conglomerate San Miguel Corp. (SMC) plans to buy one of the government-sequestered TV stations.

On the sidelines of the Cyber Bay Corp. annual stockholders meeting on Wednesday, Ramon Ang, SMC president and chief operating officer, said the company was interested to buy either IBC 13 or RPN 9 if the government would be ready to auction these off.

The company is undaunted by RPN 9's huge arrears and tax deficiencies, saying they could easily take this on since SMC has a lot of tax credits, according to Ang.

“If these are bid out, we will join,” he said.

PRESIDENT AQUINO: THE VERY FIRST IPHONE 4S USER IN PHL!

Manila (Philippine Daily Inquirer/ANN) - Thousands of people lined up for hours on Thursday evening to be the first in the Philippines to get their hands on the new Apple iPhone 4S.

But the first Filipino to officially own the new device is none other than Globe Telecom subscriber President Benigno Aquino III.

Globe president Ernest Cu explained that the device was not a gift intended to get Malacanang's goodwill. He said President Aquino had been a long-time Globe subscriber and the new iPhone was given to him under the company's loyalty program.

TIME WARNER TO LAUNCH HBO GO!

Time Warner Cable Inc is set to provide the online offerings of pay-TV provider HBO in the next month, potentially putting more pressure on rival online services such as Netflix.

Time Warner Cable, which has a big presence in markets such as New York and Los Angeles, said that under an agreement reached with HBO on Friday it would offer the latest online video services from HBO Go and Max Go to its customers in the next month.

MANILA, Philippines - Host-actress Valerie Concepcion is drawing flak for sharing that she partied with President Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III on Sunday night.

In her official Twitter account, Concepcion said she attended a Christmas party for the employees of Malacañang, where she performed and rubbed elbows with the President.

Concepcion tweeted that the President even laughed at her jokes. However, the tweet has since been deleted.

Filipino netizens lambasted Concepcion for her "insensitive" messages, while the country is mourning the hundreds of people killed by tropical storm “Sendong” (international name: Washi).

Judging from the result of National Ratings and Commercial ad loadings of GMA-7 and ABS-CBN, it can be inferred that the National Ratings now is the primary basis of TV Advertisement Placement in the Philippines. With prices now at par on both TV Networks, ABS-CBN now appears to have the upper hand in terms of revenue shares as most of its winning prime time programs get to have a bigger share in the ad revenue. Almost all winners in the National Ratings also saw its victory in the ads market, with the exception of 24 Oras which wins in the tv ads but slightly losses in TV ratings.

Nationwide ratings winner GMA Network, Inc. (GMA) further hiked its lead in television ratings versus competitors ABS-CBN and TV5 from October to November, according to broadcast industry’s most trusted ratings service provider Nielsen TV Audience Measurement.Based on full November data (November 27 to 30 based on overnight readings), GMA remained the number one free-to-air television channel with 37.5 total day average household audience share points, ahead of ABS-CBN’s 29.3 points by an imposing 8.2 points; and much higher than TV5’s 15.

GMA was notably the only TV station that grew its total day household audience share performance across all areas this November relative to the previous month.

ADVERTISERS STILL PREFER NATIONAL LEADING PROGRAMS FROM ABS-CBN DESPITE POOR RATINGS IN MEGA MANILA!

Despite trailing behind in Mega Manila, Advertisers are showing good signs of patronage for National Urban Leaders as Kapamilya Programs edged out Kapuso Programs in terms of total Advertisement Count. ABS-CBN shows which are known to be leaders in the National Urban are now gaining grounds in the Ad Revenue Market as more product placements are being seen recently on these shows. This might be caused by the rate leveling done by GMA Network, which puts the rate cards of their programs at par with ABS-CBN shows despite the poor figures Kapuso programs are showing on a national scale. Perhaps, advertisers didn't like that Idea.

ABS-CBN DOMINATES THE RADIO INDSUTRY IN MEGA MANILA!

Based on Nielsen Mega Manila Radio Audience Measurement’s data for October, DZMM is still the number one AM radio station in Mega Manila with an all-day audience share of 47%, which left behind GMA’s AM station, DZBB. Kapamilya FM station, Tambayan 101.9 also wins over its Kapuso counterpart with an all-day audience share of 22% vs Brgy LS FM’s 17%.

ABS-CBN continued to dominate nationwide primetime TV ratings in November with its strong line-up of shows with an average national audience share of 42%, or 11 points higher than GMA’s 31%, based on recent data from Kantar Media.The Kapamilya network ruled the primetime block (6PM to 12MN) in Metro Manila with a national average audience share of 36% vs GMA’s 34%; Balance Luzon (areas in Luzon outside Mega Manila) with 44% vs 31%; the Visayas with 60% vs 19%; and Mindanao with 61% vs. GMA’s 15%.

Social networking juggernaut Facebook is targeting sometime between April and June of 2012 to make its initial public offering that it hopes will value it at more than $100 billion.

The Wall Street Journal cited sources familiar with the matter who said such an IPO would be one of the largest offerings ever.

It said Facebook is now in internal discussions over the timing of its filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, and is considering filing dates as early as this year, although chief executive Mark Zuckerberg has not made any final decisions.

"When I look at the damage that an interest-based system has done to the U.S. and Europe, I can see why God forbids riba (interest) in Islam," she said. "I'm not particularly conservative as a Muslim but I definitely feel safer within Islamic banking."
