MANILA, Philippines - MediaQuest Holdings Inc. is hoping to extend its block time agreement with Intercontinental Broadcasting Corp. (IBC) channel 13.
"I think we will extend it for another year. There is still no word from government yet on its privatization so far... The 1-year agreement signed last 2011 would have lapsed late March or April this year," MediaQuest president Ray Espinosa said.
MediaQuest, an investee company of the PLDT (Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co.) Beneficial Trust Fund, has upgraded the facilities of IBC13. MediaQuest is rehabilitating IBC 13's assets, but revenues from the blocktimed shows will go to MediaQuest.

MediaQuest's block timing runs from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. every day. Sporting events are being aired, as IBC13 is being transformed as a news and sports channel.
The government is planning to privatize IBC 13, one of two sequestered TV networks. The other is Radio Philippines Network (RPN) channel 9.
Last year, PLDT chairman Manuel Pangilinan said his group was still eyeing the IBC13 but "the bid schedule is out of our hands...It depends on the government when it will be privatized."
Pangilinan's group already operates a TV station TV5. There are reports Pangilinan is eyeing GMA7 once again, but the network's officials say there are "no recent offers."
