Jerry Yang, who co-founded Yahoo! nearly 17 years ago and had an ill-fated stint as chief executive, resigned on Tuesday from all of his positions with the struggling Internet company.

Yang, 43, one of the original dotcom billionaires, resigned, effective immediately, from the board of directors of Yahoo! and from the boards of Yahoo! Japan and Alibaba Group Holding Ltd.

Except for one entry, the English site of open-source online encyclopedia Wikipedia has been blacked out starting 1 p.m. Wednesday (Manila time) to protest the US bill against online piracy.

Visitors to Wikipedia's English page (en.wikipedia.org) could only access the main page and entries or a few seconds, before being redirected to a black-themed page with the message, "Imagine a World Without Free Knowledge"."For over a decade, we have spent millions of hours building the largest encyclopedia in human history. Right now, the U.S. Congress is considering legislation that could fatally damage the free and open internet. For 24 hours, to raise awareness, we are blacking out Wikipedia," Wikipedia said.

GMA'S SNBO TOPS NUTAM RANKIINGS BUT AD PLACEMENTS REMAIN POOR!

GMA's Sunday movie marathon has attracted a relative good number of viewers for GMA as it topped rankings both in Mega Manila and NUTAM. It leads rankings both in Daytime and Prime time even matching rivals from ABS-CBN. However, advertisers seem to be too doubtful about this evening offers as product placements remain low on these movie programs.

ABS-CBN’s newest Primetime Bida series, “Walang Hanggan,” reigned the national TV ratings last Monday (January 16) with 32.1% ratings beating the pilot episode of GMA’s ‘Legacy’ which only got 16.8%.The drama series topbilled by Susan Roces, Helen Gamboa, Richard Gomez, Dawn Zulueta, Julia Montes, and Coco Martin was also the talk of the town on the popular microblogging site Twitter, where Dawn and Susan became worldwide trending topics.

As the story unfolds, witness how love changes the lives’ of Virginia (Roces), Margaret (Gamboa), and John (Eddie Gutierrez); the ill-fated lovers Marco (Gomez) and Emily (Zulueta); and young sweethearts Daniel (Martin) and Katerina (Montes).
